About Us

The Hurone AI vision was born after our founder, Dr Kingsley I. Ndoh, lost his aunt to colorectal cancer.

Dr Ndoh realized that many clinical AI solutions lacked diversity and adaptability in different clinical contexts, cultural nuances and the datasets guiding them. Additionally, there was a stark underrepresentation in clinical trials, rendering efficacy and safety data less reflective of diverse populations.

Hurone AI was created to build artificial intelligence applications that will close this gap and level the playing field to make the best possible cancer care accessible to everyone regardless of their geographical location. At Hurone AI, we believe that where you live should not determine if you live or die of cancer.

Kingsley I. Ndoh

Founder & CEO

Kingsley I. Ndoh is an entrepreneur and global health leader with over a decade of experience leading innovative global health programs to improve cancer outcomes in underrepresented populations.  

He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Global Health at the University of Washington and an Affiliate Member at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Kingsley has facilitated historic access agreements with leading pharmaceutical companies for affordable cancer medicines in Nigeria, been honored as a Union for International Cancer Young Leader, and serves on key committees, such as the U.S. President’s Cancer Panel.  He is also a recipient of the Washington Global Health Alliance’s 2023 Rising Star Award.

Max Ebong

Chief Strategy Officer (Business Development & Marketing)

Max leads Hurone AI’s market outreach and develops innovative business models that are patient-centric and drive value to healthcare organizations and pharmaceutical companies.

His expertise in technology and healthcare has been developed through his work with Microsoft’s leading healthcare enterprise software. He has also served as Advisor in Microsoft for Startups where he guided healthcare startups in their go-to-market strategies.

Previously, he held roles at City of Hope, and Dell Technologies, where he worked at the intersection of digital innovation, business strategy, and architectural consulting. He is passionate about using technology to unlock latent value, dispel information asymmetries, and reshape the healthcare narrative.

Lior Romanowsky

Chief Product Officer

Lior started his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 16. He has co-founded three software startups and has vast experience in bringing innovative digital products to market.

He is an expert in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality. Lior has supported the product marketing efforts of Fortune 500 companies and established himself as a leader in product innovation and growth acceleration through the implementation of modern technologies.

Uroš Pajić

Machine Learning Engineer/Full-Stack Software Developer

Uroš is specialized in deploying generative AI techniques, especially leveraging LLMs. At Hurone AI, he has channeled his expertise into pioneering transformative AI-driven solutions and integrating culturally sensitive models into Hurone’s platform.

Uroš has led projects to integrate machine learning models for video similarity classifications and innovatively employ algorithms for video enhancements. He has worked in building AI tools for Caladria Technologies and the United Nations Development Programme.

Marijana Ruiz

Finance & Operations

Marijana is a Grant and Investment Capital Consultant, Senior Finance and Operations Executive with over 25 years’ extensive experience in biotechnology and global health.

She has managed cumulatively over $100M as Director of Finance Global Oncology, at Fred Hutch, and Director of Finance for Infectious Disease Research Institute (now Access to Advanced Health Institute).

She holds an MBA from the Washington State University’s Carson College of Business and a BSc in Finance & International Business from the University of Washington.

Marko Stanojević

Engineering Product Manager, Hurone AI

Marko is the Engineering Product Manager at Hurone AI. He has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Belgrade Institute of Technology. His expertise in software engineering and product development plays a key role in Hurone AI’s success.

Marko’s ability to bridge technology and user experience has been vital in driving the launch of Hurone AI’s innovative products. His collaborative approach and adaptability ensure that the company’s solutions meet the highest standards.

Outside of work, Marko is passionate about technology and stays updated on the latest industry trends. His commitment to continuous learning makes him an invaluable asset to the Hurone AI team.

Floria Nyandaya

Research Fellow | Program Manager, Hurone AI

Floria Nyandaya is a physician-scientist dedicated to tackling health disparities in non-communicable diseases(NCDs) amidst Africa’s epidemiological transition. 

With a diverse background in primary clinical practice, healthcare management, infectious disease surveillance and NCD research, she has recently expanded her focus to digital health technologies. As a recipient of the Cardiometabolic Research Fellowship and the Thomas Francis Jr. Global Health Fellowship in her MPH program, Floria gained hands-on global health experience in the U.S., Nigeria, and Kenya. 

Her research endeavors have been multifaceted, from advancing women’s cardiovascular health to exploring the utility of artificial intelligence in enhancing renal and cancer care and addressing diversity gaps in clinical trial research. Continuously driven by her passion for making a tangible difference, Floria remains dedicated to improving the health and well-being of underserved populations.

 
Nasim Eftekhari, MS

Executive Director of Applied AI and Data Science, City of Hope

Nasim leads the applied AI and data science department at City of Hope, one of the largest cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States.

She supervises teams that are responsible for applying machine learning to support clinical decision support and patient care, research, and precision medicine, as well as operations and finance. Before joining City of Hope in 2017, Nasim co-founded an AI company focusing on social media data mining and financial markets and political events prediction. She continues to advise startup companies, including Hurone AI, on successful implementation of AI solutions.

Adam Yala, PhD

Assistant Professor, Computational Precision Health UC Berkeley & UCSF

Adam is an Assistant Professor of Computational Precision Medicine at UC Berkeley & UCSF. His interest lies in the intersection of machine learning and precision medicine. He believes that algorithmic innovation can create more precise and equitable healthcare.

His previous work has contributed to three areas:

1. Predicting future cancer risk,
2. Designing personalized screening policies and
3. Private data sharing through neural obfuscation.

His tools have been implemented at multiple hospital systems around the world and underlie prospective clinical trials.

Dr. Irene Dankwa-Mullan, MD, MPH

Physician Executive & Former Chief Health Equity Officer, IBM Watson Health

Dr. Irene Dankwa-Mullan is an industry physician, consultant, scientist, thought leader, health equity scholar with over 20 years of diverse regional and national leadership experience in primary care, healthcare systems, research, and the community. She served as the Chief Health Equity Officer and Deputy Chief Health Officer at Merative, formerly IBM Watson Health.

She was a member of the IBM Industry Academy, a selected community of pre-eminent leaders to drive innovation and engage in cutting-edge work for the industry. She previously served as Deputy Director for extramural scientific programs at NIMHD, NIH. While at the NIH, she was active on several key strategic committees, including many that were cross-sectoral promoting health equity and health in all policies.

She serves on various advisory boards and mentors in STEM. Irene has published widely on health equity, applied artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-learning, including ethical and responsible AI for social good.

Prof. Doyin Oluwole MD, FRCP, FWACP

Global Health & Management Executive – Women’s/Maternal, Newborn & Child Health

Prof. Doyin Oluwole is a Global Health executive. She has led a wide range of innovative global health programs in Africa and Latin America.

Between 2012 and 2015, she was the founding Executive Director of Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon (PRRR) now “Go Further” the global public-private partnership on cervical cancer and breast cancer at the George W. Bush Institute—where she guided strategy, targets and timeline and represented partners’ collective interests with governmental, public and private partners.

Oluwole has spent 40 plus years as a clinical, academic and global public health practitioner across Africa and the United States, including 10 years with executive management responsibility at the regional level and as a country World Health Organization (WHO) representative; and five at chief executive officer level in the United States.

Susan Morgensztern

Consultant in Emerging Health Technologies

Susan is a biotech leader with over 35 years of experience as a strategic development consultant for new technologies and markets to biotechnology, medical device and diagnostic firms.

She serves on the Advisory Board of the UW School of Public Health and the University of Massachusetts Institute for Diversity Sciences. Previously co-chaired Technology Screening Committee of WINGS Angel Network, Board Chair of Seattle BioMed, and Expert Reviewer for the Life Science Discovery Fund.

Prof. Isaac F. Adewole, FAS

Chair, African Cancer Coalition & Former Minister of Health, Nigeria

Prof. Adewole is a Professor of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Ibadan & adjunct Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago.He served as Minister of Health in Nigeria from 2015 – 2019 and is the Chair of the African Cancer Coalition.

He launched the first National Cancer Control Plan in Nigeria, and under his leadership there was a significant improvement in access to radiotherapy through new radiotherapy centers across Nigeria.

He previously served as the President of the African Organization of Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC) and is globally recognized as a cancer control champion.

Raymond Ononiwu

Raymond is a cloud expert and a Microsoft veteran with a decade of experience in the tech sector. He is an industry leader with a wealth of knowledge about cloud computing and cloud solutions.
